<p>This position is part of the Radio Unit of the Office of Communication and Public Information (CPIO) of MINUSTAH and located in the Minustah Logistic Base of Port-au-Prince. Under the immediate supervision of the Studio Engineer of the radio unit and of the Director of CPIO, the Studio Technician will perform the following functions:</p>
<p>Main Responsibilities:  </p>
<p>• Be able to perform daily On-air technical tasks<br />
• Should have basic computer skills<br />
• Should be familiar with all current editing platforms and On-air management tools such as Daletplus radio applications, Adobe edition (cool edit)<br />
• Should be able to perform sound recording &amp; editing on digital audio software<br />
• Electronic and IT troubleshooting skills<br />
• Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of all studio equipment and supplies<br />
• Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices<br />
• Show good interpersonal skills.</p>
<p>Competencies:   <br />
Professionalism – Skills in radio broadcasting technology –Ability to mix on-air live radio programs <br />
Technological Awareness – Fully proficient in computer skills, with use of relevant software such as Daletplus radio suites, Sound Forge, Cubase and Adobe Audition (Cool Edit). Knowledge of Haitian culture.<br />
Communication – Good communication skills.  <br />
Teamwork – Good interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relations in a multicultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity;<br />
Creativity – Ability to create, record and mix all types of radio related audio material.</p>
<p>Qualifications:<br />
Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Related electronic technical school diploma.<br />
Experience: Eight years of relevant experience in a radio station, or other related fields of communication.  <br />
Language: Fluency in spoken and written French and spoken and written Creole.  <br />
Other Skills:              Driver’s licence is an asset.</p>

		<title>Pour accroitre la production agricole à Torbeck</title>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Quelque 15 kilomètres de canaux d’irrigation dans la commune de Torbeck (dans le Sud du pays) sont en phase de réhabilitation. Les travaux sont cofinancés par le PNUD, le PAM et la firme locale GRAPHES qui en assure également l’exécution. Objectif du projet: favoriser l’augmentation de la production agricole de la zone.</strong></p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Le système d’irrigation de la commune de Torbeck ne fonctionnait pas à plein rendement, les anciens canaux étant, à certains endroits, délabrés et remplis d’alluvions. Une situation due à la dégradation de l’environnement, aux intempéries et autres facteurs. Et entre autres conséquences, la réduction du débit de l’eau acheminée et par conséquent de la superficie irriguée. Autre impact négatif,  des inondations à travers toute la plaine lorsqu’il pleut averse.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Pour y remédier, le Groupe d’Appui pour la Réhabilitation Economique et Sociale de la Famille Haïtienne (GRAPHES) -qui œuvre en faveur du développement socio économique dans le Sud- a identifié le projet de réhabilitation des 15 kilomètres de canaux d’irrigation dans la commune. Celui-ci a été autorisé par la Mairie et validé par le «comité de pilotage» coiffé par la Délégation départementale (équivalent de Préfecture) et la Direction départementale du Ministère de l’Agriculture.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">La remise en état des canaux a démarré le 4 août dernier. Le coût des travaux s’élève à 151.214,75 dollars américains. Ils sont cofinancés respectivement par le Programme des Nations Unies pour le Développement (PNUD) à hauteur de US $ 104, 961.75, le Programme alimentaire mondial (PAM) dont l’apport est de US$ 45.038,50 et GRAPHES, la firme d’exécution, à hauteur de 1.214,50 dollars américains. La durée d’exécution est de trois mois.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Le projet vise à permettre l’augmentation de la production agricole afin d’améliorer les conditions de vie de la population de la commune. Une augmentation qui passe par l’accroissement de la superficie irriguée. Selon les statistiques fournies par la firme exécutante (GRAPHES), ces travaux permettront d’accroitre  de 36 hectares ladite superficie. Et, en prenant en compte le rendement actuel qui est de 3,8 tonnes de riz par hectare, l’augmentation de la production sera de l’ordre de 136,8 tonnes métriques.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">La réhabilitation du système d’irrigation peut aussi avoir des impacts positifs sur d’autres productions. En effet, dans la commune de Torbeck, les agriculteurs pratiquent la polyculture. On y trouve presque tous les produits cultivés en Haïti comme les haricots, les tubercules, le tabac, les légumes et autres céréales.  Par ailleurs, ce projet a des incidences en termes de création d’emplois temporaires. Un total de 774 ouvriers dont 39 chefs d’équipe et 3 superviseurs choisis parmi les déplacés de Port-prince, les familles d’accueil, les femmes et autres personnes vulnérables ont jusqu’à date été embauchés.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Le Maire Adjoint de la commune de Torbeck, Samuel Cadet,  se félicite de ce projet et invite les organismes de financement à continuer à appuyer d’autres projets agricoles à travers sa commue. «Tous les Torbeckois sont ravis de ce projet, et nous nous attendons à une agriculture plus florissante dans la zone », dit-il.  Quant à Adrien Montezuma, cultivateur de riz depuis une trentaine d’année, il a fait observer que « les jardins des paysans représentent pour eux leur seule source d’emplois. Ce projet va nous aider avoir de meilleures récoltes et par conséquent de meilleurs salaires  après chacune d’elles ».</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">A rappeler que dans le cadre des efforts de relèvement du pays, le PNUD finance 5 projets à travers le département du Sud. Outre la réhabilitation de canaux d’irrigation, les projets portent sur le drainage en vue de prévenir des  inondations.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">La commune de Torbeck, fondée en 1720 par le Duc Joseph de Vaudreuil,  représente l’une des plus vastes plaines agricoles du département du Sud.</p>

<p>Main Responsibilities:  </p>
<p>• Be able to perform daily On-air technical tasks<br />
• Should have basic computer skills<br />
• Should be familiar with all current editing platforms and On-air management tools such as Daletplus radio applications, Adobe edition (cool edit)<br />
• Should be able to perform sound recording &amp; editing on digital audio software<br />
• Electronic and IT troubleshooting skills<br />
• Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of all studio equipment and supplies<br />
• Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices<br />
• Show good interpersonal skills.</p>
<p>Competencies:   <br />
Professionalism – Skills in radio broadcasting technology –Ability to mix on-air live radio programs <br />
Technological Awareness – Fully proficient in computer skills, with use of relevant software such as Daletplus radio suites, Sound Forge, Cubase and Adobe Audition (Cool Edit). Knowledge of Haitian culture.<br />
Communication – Good communication skills.  <br />
