- A woman cooks in an "illegal" tent city that sprawls on the outskirts of the northern city of Gonaives. Some residents have been here since the beginning of the year. At the beginning of another rainy season, and eight months after the devastating hurricanes that flooded the entire region, killing hundreds, thousands still live in temporary shelters, some with no governmental or NGO aid whatsoever.
- An elderly man sits alone in a mental health facility outside of Port au Prince, Haiti. The facility houses some 80 patients and because it receives no governmental funding must rely on the generosity private donations of food, clothing and medicines.
